John Charles Robinson
John Charles Robinson was born on November 26th, 1903 in carrabelle, Florida. not knowing the difference he would one day make. When he was still young he moved to gulfport, Mississippi.
When John was living in mississippi he saw a plane land in a field and decided one day he would fly to. Growing up John still had a dream to fly and he was interested in mechanics and machinery so he traveled to alabama to study mechanical science at the Premier Black Institution of Higher Learning in Tuskegee, Alabama. After he graduated he went to the Curtiss-Wright School of Aviation where he became a janitor. Johns goal wasn’t to become a janitor but while he studied.
After working as a janitor for a while John was accepted into the school becoming the first black student to attend The Curtiss Wright School of Aviation. In 1935 when Italy was getting ready for war with Ethiopia, the emperor asked John if he would come to Ethiopia and help create an Ethiopian air force. The emperor wanted an all black air force, he saw the land as sacred and wanted people from his own country to defend it. John became the Ethiopian air force general and started training the pilots.
In conclusion John accomplished many things in his lifetime. He showed that Black people could fly too, he showed that with enough dedication you can accomplish your goals, and He created the Ethiopian air force.
