How Did World War II Start and why?

It was September 1st 1939 about 1.5 million German troops gathered at

the border of Poland. With thousands of planes and thousands of tanks ready

to go. In about a month Germany swept through Poland capturing it. This caused

France and England to declare war on Germany.

Many things led up to this but one big cause is the Treaty of Versailles.

The Treaty of Versailles was signed at the end of World War I. It put harsh rules on the Germans. It said Germany owed tons of land and money to the places they attacked. Germany didn’t have enough money to pay back, and the other countries were sympathetic to them so some of the money wasn't paid back.

Since Germany was poor and destroyed because of World War I the people were looking for a good leader to fix the country. When hitler and the Nazi party came around people thought he would be a great leader. He made himself sound like a great leader because he used manipulative tactics to persuade the public. When he became the leader of Germany he promised land money and many good things to the people. He said he must capture land that belonged to Germany. In 1939 German forces invaded Poland this happened because they wanted their land back.

Japan also was involved at the beginning of World War II when they Invaded China in 1937. This incident wasn’t really Part of World War II but it was the start of Japan's campaign of trying to take over land, which was the reason they were involved in World War II. Japan has always been trying to get land but now they were ready with a strong military. America was involved in this war because China needed help to make an air force. America got together 80 men to fly p-40 planes in China And to fight Japan. These planes were faster and better armed than the Japanese planes so the Japanese planes stood no chance against the American planes. Over time more Americans were recruited to the group. In the end there were 300 Americans flying and few lives were lost for the Americans but Hundreds of Japanese planes and crew were destroyed. They became known as the flying tigers.

  3. I loved this article. It was very well written. I have one question. Were the American soldiers involved in any other part of the war or were they just fighting in China?

    1. During WWII America did fight in other places than China. On December 7th 1941 Japan bombed Pearl Harbor causing America to officialy join WWII. The fight in China was a secret mission the public didn't know about this. When Pearl Harbor was bombed America decided to join the fight. The Americans went over to the pacific ocean to the bottom of Japan to fight the Japanese forces that were taking control of the islands. Later in WWII America went over to Northern Africa to fight and also helped to liberate Europe.
